Secondary Science & Math

Ms. Drees

I am in my 8th year of teaching here at Vanguard East. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in math from Missouri Western State University, and I earned a teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming while tutoring and teaching chemistry labs. At Vanguard, I have taught chemistry, culinary science, earth science, biology, foundations of science, energy science, middle school science fiction, Algebra I, pre-algebra, 7th grade Saxon math, Calc I/II/III, and 6th grade and 7th grade Core Knowledge science. This year I am teaching chemistry, food science, and 8th grade Core Knowledge science; I also advise 8th grade.

I have sponsored Culinary Club, Student Senate, and Anime Club in past years. I chaperoned the 6th grade outdoor lab trip in 2018 and 2019, the Washington DC trip in 2018, and the summer Denver Pop Culture Con 2019 trip; I am currently the lead chaperone for the high school Italy trip in 2022, the Student Leadership Co-Advisor, and the Junior Culinary Club sponsor. Over the summer, I enjoy presenting educational panels at the Denver Pop Culture Con, going to concerts, gardening, and playing video games. During the school year, I spend time with my cats and my sisters while cooking, crafting, watching TV, and taking care of my many houseplants.
