Team 5/6

Welcome to Team 5/6!

Welcome back! We hope that you all enjoyed your extended Winter Break. We look forward to starting 3rd quarter with a bang!!!

***Families, starting this quarter, every class will have a recorded version posted on the classroom stream page. This is to ensure that your student will be able to watch a lesson even if they're not in class that day.  This does not change the absence policy. If your student has an excused absence, they will still have a grace period as outlined in the Student Handbook.***
* Click here to see the plan for 3rd quarter.
* When we return back to school, we will be using Pik My Kid as our new way of dismissing the students. With your supplies, your car tag and registration information in printed on yellow paper. Please be sure to follow all of the directions.
* If you're having technical difficulties, please reach out to our support at Be sure to include as much information as possible. The more information you can provide, the better we can help with the problem.

Important Dates:

*** NO SCHOOL February 15 & 16 ***

Students will need to "switch" classrooms, by logging out after every class and switching links for every class. The students will do this during their 5 minute "passing period." As always, there will be grace the first couple days since this is new. Please make sure your students are aware of the change.

Love of Country

This is defined as being devoted to our nation --loving its ideals, honoring its heroes, respecting its past (and learning from it) and working hard for a just and noble future.
While we have many at our school who are from other nations, there is a reason they chose to live here. However, Love of Country can also mean 'love your country of origin.' Our student population represents a rich array of cultures and nationalities. This is also a great time to celebrate that!
Even with her flaws, our country is a beautiful place, with amazing potential. Developing a love for our country is how that potential is realized and how the future can be better than the past.

Prior to teaching at VCS, I attended Ottawa University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. When I graduated I thought that I wanted to teach lower elementary, but I have fallen in love with fifth grade and it has become my love and passion. Outside of school I love to be active. 5/6 Educational Assistant

Ms. Knapp

I have been working with children for the past 10 years in various forms. I most recently went to France as an assistant teacher, where I taught primary students English. I loved my time there and was sad when I had to unexpectedly leave due to the coronavirus. I plan on becoming a French teacher and am currently in the process of getting certified. I have been learning French for twenty years now. The language, culture and food have shaped me and I plan on sharing my passion for France with my own students one day. I am excited to work at Vanguard Classical School this year!
