Our core virtue for February is Love of Country.
This is defined as being devoted to our nation-loving its ideals, honoring its heroes, respecting its past and learning from it, and working hard for a just and nobel future.
Even with her flaws, our country is a beautiful place, with amazing potential. Developing a love for our country is how that potential is realized and how the future can be better than the past!

Hi, my name is Carol Sudan. I have taught Kindergarten here at Vanguard for 4 years. I graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. My boys are both grown. I love teaching Kindergarten! I enjoy reading mystery novels, traveling, and nature. I am looking forward to another great year in Kindergarten here at Vanguard!
EmailHello. My name is Brandy Anderson and I am an Educational Assistant in Kindergarten. My son has been a student at Vanguard for 6 years and I jumped at the opportunity to join the amazing staff here! Before coming to work at Vanguard, I spent 15 years teaching at a massage therapy school. I loved being in the classroom and being a part of the “magic” that occurs when minds are expanding and skills are being learned. I am excited to be a part of the same “magic” in kindergarten! Outside of work, I still have an active massage practice in which my clients are primarily children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. I have a 9 year old son who brings me so much joy! As a family, we enjoy playing board games, watching movies and breathing the fresh mountain air whenever possible, especially in the fall.
Hi! My name is Jill Kim and I am so excited to be working in kindergarten again this year! I have taught at Vanguard East since we opened six year ago. I taught third grade for five year, and this is my second year in kindergarten. I am originally from Wyoming and that is where I earned my elementary education degree. I also have a Master's degree in reading. I love getting to work with brand new readers and getting them to love reading like I do. When I am not teaching, I like to do arts and crafts and watch sports.
Hi! My name is Ms. Elmer and I have been an EA here at Vanguard since January 2020, but I have been apart of the Vanguard family as a parent for the past 6 years. I have worked with children for over 20 years, and I look forward to getting to know your children in the coming year.
