My name is Jeanne Easton and I am the special education teacher in kindergarten and first grade. I have a Bachelor’s degree in University Studies with minors in communication and marriage and family from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education from University of Northern Colorado. This is my 5th year at Vanguard Classical School.
I have lived in Colorado for 25 years, but there is still a small space reserved in my heart for my hometown of Paradise, California. I spent a year and a half living in Italy when I was college age and I am still fluent in Italian. I have four boys, ages 9 to 17, who keep my life complete...and busy! I teach and play the piano and I enjoy doing calligraphy.
I love working with students on the foundational skills that will support them through a lifetime of learning. Seeing a student realize that they are reading for the first time is something I particularly enjoy! I'm a firm believer in inclusive education and the benefits that model can bring to all learners and I'm pleased to be part of a school that shares that same belief.
My name is Nikki Robertson, and I am the special education teacher for the 4th and 5th grade. I graduated from CSU with a BA in theatre and Asian studies. For my masters, I did a 180 and graduated with a license in special education. This will be my 3rd year teaching here at Vanguard. Before I started my career I worked in Japan for three years teaching English and learned Japanese along the way. I am also one of the few Colorado natives left and grew up in Fort Collins. When I am not working, I enjoy dancing, figure skating, and live theatre. In fact, I just started a breakdancing class!Email
2019 marks my first year at Vanguard Classical School. My teaching career started in 2003 in the Pacific Northwest where I taught 6th grade, 8th grade science, and worked with At-Risk High School students in the span of 10 years. My teaching journey continued when I decided to move to Colorado in 2013. From then until 2017, I was a High School Special Education Teacher in JeffCo School District at Sobesky Academy working with students with severe emotional disabilities. Just prior to working at Vanguard, I was the High School, Affective Needs, Special Education Teacher at Legacy High School in Broomfield, CO. In addition to teaching, I am and have been a volleyball coach at the collegiate and high school levels since 1999 and just a couple years ago started coaching my favorite sport of beach volleyball. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Philosophy from the University of California at Santa Barbara where I was also a member of the nationally ranked men's volleyball team in the late 90’s. In 2003, I earned a Master's in Teaching and in 2013 earned a Master's in Special Education.
Outside of the classroom and the volleyball gym I can be found enjoying Colorado - hiking, camping, paddling and exploring with my two dogs, or golfing, skiing, climbing, playing competitive volleyball or out enjoying live music.
